Florence Aigner is a photographer interested in questions of home, exile and identity. She was born in 1975 in Luxembourg from an Austrian father and French mother originally from Algeria. She studied social work and photography in Belgium before to work during the year 1999-2000 in Palestine as a photographer and initiator of photo workshops for Palestinian children living in refugee camps in Bethlehem. Exhibitions with the work of the children were held in Palestine, UK, Belgium, US, France and a book has been published by the organisation Quinoa in Brussels. Thereafter, she moved for two years in London in order to do a certificate in Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies and a Master in Refugee Studies at the University of East London. After that, she travelled to the Middle East in Autumn 2002 for her project 'Homes, Sweet Home' and had some exhibitions in Brussels and Gent. Now, she lives and works in Brussels, Belgium as a photographer, and organises photo workshops around the concepts of home, exile and personal treasures with the participation of refugees and migrants.
