Mahmut Kunter was born in Paphos and become a refugee in Famagusta. He lives in London and works for LondonMetropolitan University. A sense of being transitory dominates his work which isprimarily site-specific installations and art performances making extensive use of discarded materials creating a social commentary.
He is an Artist with a Masters degree in Conflict Resolution Through Arts. He has exhibited in numerous group shows. As a project manager he ran the FATAL (For the Advancement of Turkish speakers Arts and Literature) Family Cycling Days (2002 and 2003) in Cyprus and Arts Learning Partnership Arts Summer School for Turkish Speaking Young People (2004) in London. He is a leading member of FATAL and workshop leader for the photographic project with Cypriot young people, The Way We Are.
